Accessibility statement
This page was last updated on 7 April 2026.
This accessibility statement applies to the three technology-based elements of the Brain in Hand service which are run by Brain in Hand Ltd:
- the public (not signed-in) website at braininhand.co.uk
- the signed-in website (web-app) for registered users
- the Android and iOS mobile applications for registered users.
Preliminary accessibility audits have shown that Brain in Hand is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 AA level (as defined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). We are continuously improving and are actively working towards WCAG 2.2 AA compliance. More details are given below.
At Brain in Hand, accessibility requirements are considered as an integral part of our software development lifecycle as we develop new features and enhance our mobile apps and web-apps in particular. This includes accessibility related acceptance criteria for developments, and both automated and manual accessibility testing. We also conduct more holistic reviews, including both internal and 3rd party reviews, based on key user journeys.
Our focus is on supporting users of the following assistive technologies and features: dark mode, zoom and increased font size, screen readers and keyboard only usage (including in dark mode). We also test using assistive touch and high contrast features.
We are also actively working on specific accessibility remediation activities for areas of our mobile and web apps which do not have changes road-mapped for the near future. We are aware that there are some areas of our web-app are not accessible to non-mouse users, and are considering our strategy on how best to update these features.
If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording, or braille, please call us on 01392 247 909 or email info@braininhand.co.uk.

Brain in Hand Ltd is committed to making its websites and mobile applications accessible.
We are working towards meeting the WCAG 2.2 AA standard and have conducted tests of a sample of pages on each website and application.
The Brain in Hand public website, the Brain in Hand signed-in website for registered users and the Brain in Hand mobile applications are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
The Brain in Hand public website
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:
- you cannot modify the line height or spacing of the text
- most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- some of our pages are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard
- you cannot skip to sections of each page when using a screen reader
- some links have duplicate names making them hard to distinguish when using a screen reader
- some buttons do not have a text alternative
- some pages do not have proper html headings or heading structure
- some online forms have poor colour contrast
The Brain in Hand signed-in website (web-app) for registered users
We know some parts of the signed-in website are not fully accessible. For example:
- some screens, in particular our Calendar feature, are difficult to navigate for keyboard-only users
- some pages do not have proper HTML headers so screen reader software may not represent the visual page structure
- some buttons do not have a text alternative
- some pages do not have proper html headings
The Brain in Hand mobile applications for registered users
We know some parts of the applications are not fully accessible. For example:
- some screen elements do not have a text alternative or a text label
- the visibility of focus indicators on some screen elements should be improved
- interacting with some screens through screen readers or voice control is generally possible but the experience could be improved.
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services. We will be reducing the amount of necessary information delivered through PDF.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Some PDFs that we link to are not owned or produced by Brain in Hand.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish should meet accessibility standards or we will provide an accessible alternative.
This statement was prepared in Spring 2026. It will be reviewed in November 2026.
We are aiming to produce a fuller accessibility statement in the GOV.UK accessibility statement format during 2026.

We will also conduct fuller accessibility tests of each existing aspect as we continue work on our technology elements.
